ATIS, VOLMET আর CAVOK
ATIS
- Controller-এর কাজ কমাতে একটা recorded message একটানা চলে, আলাদা VHF frequency-তে বা VOR-এর frequency-তে।
- তথ্য বদলালেই নতুন letter: information Alfa, Bravo… Pilot প্রথম call-এ বলে কোন letter পেয়েছে, যাতে পুরনো হলে controller নতুনটা জানিয়ে দেয়।
- Tower বা ground-কে call করার আগেই ATIS শুনে নেওয়ার কথা।

“This is Dhaka information Papa, time 0930. Runway 14. Wind 150 degrees 12 knots gusting 25. Visibility 3000 metres in heavy rain. Broken 800 feet, scattered cumulonimbus 1500 feet. Temperature 27, dew point 25. QNH 998. Tempo visibility 1500 metres in thunderstorm with heavy rain. Acknowledge information Papa on first contact.”
Wind বলা হয় “wind one five zero degrees one two knots gusting two five”, QNH “QNH nine nine eight”।
Pilot
“Dhaka Ground, Bangla Star 211, stand 7, information Papa, QNH 998, request start up”
প্রথম call-এ ATIS-এর letter, সাথে QNH।
VOLMET
VOLMET একসাথে কয়েকটা aerodrome-এর met information broadcast করে, ঘণ্টার নির্দিষ্ট minute-এ। Frequency আর সময় AIP বা en route supplement-এ থাকে। Long-haul-এ destination আর alternate-এর weather ATC-কে না জ্বালিয়েই পাওয়া যায়।

Unit: 5 km-এর নিচে metres, তার উপরে kilometres
RVR
Unit: Metres

Unit: Unit নেই: rain, thunderstorm, mist

Unit: Amount, type (CB বা TCU হলে), base: FEW 1–2, SCT 3–4, BKN 5–7 octas, OVC পুরো আকাশ
Temperature, dew point
Unit: Degrees Celsius; শূন্যের নিচে “minus”
QNH
Unit: Hectopascals
Trend
Unit: Unit নেই: NOSIG, TEMPO, BECMG
CAVOK
বলা হয় “CAV-O-KAY”। মানে visibility, cloud আর present weather সবই নির্দিষ্ট মানের চেয়ে ভালো:
- Visibility 10 km বা বেশি;
- 5,000 ft (1,500 m) বা MSA-র মধ্যে যেটা বেশি, তার নিচে কোনো cloud নেই, আর কোথাও CB নেই;
- কোনো significant weather নেই।
